Put Your Busy-Work on Autopilot (14 Simple Tricks)

3 min readSep 18, 2025

If you reflect on your daily activities, you’ll quickly notice a pattern: you learn how to do things, but rarely change afterwards. This tendency exists in all aspects of life, including our work. After years of observing how people manage their time and workflows, I’ve concluded that when something is learned, it often doesn’t lead to a change in practice, even when new methods are available. We tend to stay in our comfort zones, relying on familiar routines, which causes us to overlook alternative approaches.

A clear example of this is how we manage our email at work. I’ve asked many people to demonstrate their use of the classic Microsoft Outlook App (which is packed with features), and as you’d expect, most are using only elementary functions of the tool. Yet we complain about its limitations.

When I began conducting the Microsoft 365 Tricks Masterclass, I noticed that many participants experienced an “aha” moment; however, they often didn’t change their habits afterward. This observation led me to shift my focus from merely teaching how to use productivity tools to providing direct strategies for reclaiming time in your week. The emphasis changed from “This is how you use this tool” to “Here is how to regain your time and automate your busy work.”

After years of working with individuals on productivity and observing countless colleagues, as well as participating in a Microsoft 365 Ambassador program at a previous company, I decided to create a small Microsoft 365 Tricks course aimed at helping others recover more than 10 hours each week. This tricks book is not your typical training on creating beautiful PowerPoint presentations or formatting Word documents. Its sole purpose is to automate your busy work.

The Microsoft 365 Tricks has shown proven results among the many people who have taken the course, as well as in the live masterclasses I’ve conducted.

While not all 14 formulas and tricks will suit everyone, three to five strategies are consistently adopted by course participants, saving them significant time. For instance, implementing a few simple yet effective tricks in Outlook on the web has been consistently praised.

For those who want to streamline repetitive tasks further, there are additional methods to help you automate your work. Another critical aspect of the course is centered on action. Corporate productivity often fails, not due to a lack of intention but because action-taking is complicated and not typically prioritized in discussions. That’s why I have created a ‘Planner’ module to ensure your conversations, meetings, and emails trigger action, leading to change that fosters productivity and ultimately happiness.

If you find yourself constantly saying, “I have so much work to do,” or if you feel your meaningful contributions are hindered by repetitive tasks and a lack of action, then this course is for you. It will teach you how to work asynchronously, providing formulas to maximize your own time and that of your colleagues, while being respectful of others’ time and ensuring you get things done efficiently.

To encourage you to take this step toward reclaiming your time, I’m offering a discount for those interested. Comment on this post, and I’ll send you a FREE code!
